We all know Hindu Gods Lord Ganesha (God with elephant head) and Hanumanji (The Monkey God) have red colored idols. Both of them also can be seen in white marble idols but can you imagine that on some places they are worshiped as black idol.
Of course Jaipur is also blessed with one black idol of Lord Hanuman at Chandi Ki Taksal which is most unusual, rare and quite impressive. This statue was found in an underground place while digging foundations for new building. Later this idol was established at current temple of Kale Hanumanji at Chandi Ki Taksal.
It is also said when the kings of Jaipur used to go on war, they used to bow at the Lord’s feet to win the enemy. This black statue of Hanumanji is in veer bhav in which he has Himalaya Mountain on his one hand while other hand is carrying Gada or Ghota (his weapon). Interestingly Kale hanumanji ka mandir does not monkeys a prominent sign of Hanuman temple. So whenever you are visiting Jaipur sightseeing, don’t forget to visit unique Kale Hanumanji in the Pink City.
